The importance of clear and effective communication

Most people assume that they can communicate. However, there are many barriers to communication.

From marketing campaigns and customer-facing content to communicating in the workplace or even in everyday life, effective communication requires both the sender to convey the message clearly so that the audience at the receiving end understands. Ambiguous communication can more often than not lead to misunderstanding, confusion and distortion of the intended message.

The perfect example is the genius Abbott and Costello’s ‘Who’s on First’ comedy routine (see the video clip below). While the communication breakdown and the building frustration for both the sender and receiver will have you in splits, it just goes to emphasise the importance of clear and effective communication.
